Opatija at MEETEX 2026: new contacts and a stronger congress offering

The Opatija Tourist Board took part in MEETEX 2026, Croatia’s leading B2B event for the meetings industry, held in Zagreb from 17 to 19 March.

The three-day programme brought together domestic exhibitors and international event organisers from Europe, North and South America, Asia and Australia, alongside a series of pre-scheduled meetings and numerous networking activities. MEETEX once again confirmed its important role in promoting Croatia as an attractive congress and incentive destination. Hosted buyers included organisers of corporate events, conferences, business meetings and incentive travel, as well as representatives of international associations.

By taking part in this international event, Opatija further presented itself as one of Croatia’s leading destinations for congresses, conferences and business gatherings. Partners showed particular interest in its long-standing congress tradition, high-quality hotel infrastructure and diverse offer that successfully combines business facilities with an authentic destination experience.

„Participation in MEETEX is essential for further strengthening Opatija’s position on the international business events market. Direct meetings with organisers from key source markets open up new opportunities for the development of congress tourism, which makes a significant contribution to the destination’s year-round business“, the Opatija Tourist Board said.

This year’s edition of MEETEX was marked by a strong message about the importance of the human dimension in business meetings, the so-called “human to human” approach focused on building quality relationships and long-term cooperation among partners.

Congress and business tourism is one of the key segments in the development of year-round tourism and the wider economy, and participation in events like this helps strengthen Opatija’s international visibility, encourages knowledge exchange and creates new business opportunities.
