The Opatija Tourist Board presented the meetings and incentives offer of Opatija and Kvarner at the international trade show IMEX Frankfurt 2026, held from 19 to 21 May in Frankfurt. This is one of the world's most important gatherings for the event industry, which every year brings together destinations, convention bureaus, hotels, agencies, event organisers and international buyers from all over the world.

Opatija showcased its offer at the Croatian national stand, organised by the Croatian National Tourist Board, together with other Croatian destinations and partners from the meetings and incentives industry, including Dubrovnik, Zagreb, Rijeka, Istria, Šibenik and Zadar, as well as numerous Croatian hotels and agencies. Exhibitors from Opatija and the wider region included Amadria Park hotels, Opatija Marriott, MedAdria from Rijeka and other representatives of the hotel and tourism sector.

During the three-day event, meetings were held with international buyers interested in organising business events, congresses, meetings and incentive programmes in Croatia. Special emphasis was placed on the advantages of Opatija as a meetings destination with a long tradition, high-quality hotel and conference infrastructure, an attractive seaside location and opportunities to connect with the experiences and amenities of the entire Kvarner region.

"Participating in IMEX is an important opportunity for Opatija to have direct discussions with international event organisers and to further strengthen the visibility of our destination in the global business tourism market. The interest from buyers shows that Opatija and Kvarner have strong potential for organising congresses, business meetings and incentive trips, which take place during the pre- and post-season periods," the Opatija Tourist Board pointed out.

By participating in IMEX, the Opatija Tourist Board continues its ongoing international promotion of the meetings offer as an important segment of the destination's tourism development. Congress and business tourism are of particular importance to Opatija as they contribute to increased tourist activity outside the main season, better utilisation of existing infrastructure and strengthening Opatija's image as a destination that successfully combines tradition, professionalism and top-quality service.

The positive interest from international buyers confirms that Opatija remains a relevant and competitive destination for business events, while the joint appearance of Croatian destinations and partners further contributes to the visibility of Croatia as an attractive and diverse meetings destination.
