Behind the scenes of the European Gymnastics Championships: 2 years of preparation, 2,000 participants and 20,000 overnight stays for Zagreb

Goran Macanović has been appointed new general manager of the Novotel Zagreb hotel, the first Novotel in Croatia, managed by the global hospitality group Accor. With over 15 years of international experience in hospitality, in his new role he will focus on strengthening the hotel's presence in the business travel and event management segments.
Throughout his career, Goran Macanović has held various management roles spanning hotel operations, commercial management, team leadership and general manager positions in some of the most prominent hotels in Croatia and the US, as well as on cruise ships.

"We are delighted that Goran Macanović is taking over the leadership of Novotel Zagreb at an important moment for the hotel. His experience in managing various aspects of hotel operations, together with his knowledge of the Croatian market, will be a valuable contribution to the further development of Novotel Zagreb. We believe that with his approach and experience he will successfully lead the team and continue to build Novotel Zagreb into a prominent venue on Zagreb's hotel scene," said Jean Wendling, Vice President of Operations for Premium, Midscale and Economy Brands for Eastern Europe at Accor.
The hotel as a partner to the business community and event organizers
In its first year of operation, Novotel Zagreb has developed an impressive offer for business guests, alongside facilities intended for leisure guests visiting Zagreb. The hotel features six meeting and conference rooms with a capacity of up to 550 participants, positioning itself as one of Zagreb's most attractive locations for business gatherings and events.

In this new phase, Goran Macanović will focus on the further commercial development of the hotel, long-term operational stability and team development, with a special emphasis on relations with the business community and linking operational management with guest experience.
"Novotel Zagreb has a very strong foundation for further development, ranging from a powerful international brand and quality infrastructure to its location in Slavonska Avenue in eastern Zagreb, which provides excellent connectivity with both the city and the airport. My goal, together with the hotel team, is to continue building a hotel that will serve as a relevant partner to the business community, event organizers and the local market, while simultaneously creating a high-quality experience for every guest," stated the new general manager of Novotel Zagreb.

Novotel Zagreb opened a year ago through a partnership between the Accor hospitality group and the Croatian company ROX. The hotel offers 163 rooms, a restaurant and lounge bar with a seasonal gastronomic offering, a gym and sauna, as well as a private garden and terrace with city views. The hotel's offering aligns with Novotel's global Longevity Everyday concept, based on four pillars – nutrition, quality sleep, movement and connection.
