Terme Tuhelj has officially opened its fully renovated, expanded and modernized Sauna World, marking a significant step forward in the development of its wellness offerings. With an investment worth approximately 1.4 million euros, a comprehensive revitalization of one of its key wellness facilities was carried out, aimed at creating a new level of comfort, relaxation and experience for guests.
Across a total of 1,600 m² of modernized indoor space and an additional 300 m² of open outdoor terrace, guests can expect a completely new saunation and relaxation experience. All ten saunas have been modernized, including three brand-new ones – salt, program and steam saunas – while the wellness bar has been renovated and the relaxation areas significantly expanded. Special emphasis has been placed on the new "4 Elements" zone featuring seven new relaxation areas which, together with four renovated existing ones, make a total of 11 relaxation spaces.
An investment that changes the entire wellness experience
The project was designed as a complete modernization, expansion and revitalization of Sauna World, with an emphasis on contemporary design, functionality and additional guest comfort. By upgrading all ten saunas and creating new relaxation areas, Terme Tuhelj has redefined the entire wellness experience – from sauna rituals to moments of rest and regeneration.
"When we started this project, our ambition was much greater than simply renovating the existing facilities. We wanted to make a significant leap forward and offer guests a completely new Sauna World experience. With an investment of approximately 1.4 million euros, we modernized the entire space, upgraded all ten saunas and paid special attention to what is just as important today as saunation itself – the quality of rest, comfort and the feeling of complete relaxation. We believe we have created a space that will further strengthen the position of Terme Tuhelj as a recognizable wellness destination," said Vasja Čretnik, director of Terme Tuhelj.
"4 Elements" – seven new relaxation areas, four energies and a new dimension of relaxation
One of the most important novelties is the completely new "4 Elements" relaxation zone, comprising seven new relaxation areas connected by a unique architectural and design story inspired by Earth, Water, Air and Fire. Each element is interpreted through carefully selected materials, colors, textures, lighting and ambient details. Earth symbolizes stability and connection with nature, Water calm and fluidity, Air lightness and freedom, and Fire energy and renewal. Together they create a harmonious whole in which guests can find their own rhythm of relaxation and a sense of inner balance.
A total of 11 relaxation areas – seven new and four fully revitalized and renovated – provide guests with significantly more space, comfort and opportunities for quality rest between sauna rituals. Relaxation thus becomes an equally important part of the wellness experience as saunation itself. Four elements. Four energies. One feeling of total balance.
Open-air wellness
One of the most attractive additions is an open outdoor terrace covering 300 m² with built-in underfloor heating, allowing for a more comfortable stay outdoors even during colder months. The terrace features a whirlpool and a panoramic sauna, providing guests with a unique combination of warmth, water, saunation and fresh-air enjoyment. The new terrace thus becomes a natural extension of the indoor Sauna World, further enriching the year-round wellness experience.
Ten modernized saunas and a fully renovated ambiance
The revitalization encompassed all ten saunas, including three brand-new ones – a salt, program and steam sauna. The modernized features allow for a more diverse saunation experience, tailored to the various preferences of guests.
Alongside the saunas and relaxation areas, the renovated Sauna World brings a specially decorated relaxation room with a salt wall, heated benches, a barefoot walking path and a fully renovated wellness bar. All amenities complement one another, creating a harmonious wellness environment for relaxation and regeneration.
Contemporary architecture and nature serving relaxation
The modernized Sauna World has acquired a new visual and functional identity that connects contemporary design, natural materials, carefully thought-out lighting and comfort. Standing out in particular is the "4 Elements" concept, which demonstrates how architecture can transcend the mere function of space and create an atmosphere that fosters peace, balance and connection with nature. Abstracto studio was responsible for the conceptual design of the new Sauna World, while the construction work was executed by MDK Građevinar.
With an investment of approximately 1.4 million euros, Terme Tuhelj confirms its commitment to continuous quality improvement and the development of modern wellness amenities. Through the complete transformation of Sauna World, it further strengthens the appeal of its offer and its position as a recognizable destination for rest and relaxation in Hrvatsko Zagorje.
The new Sauna World is not just a renovated space; it represents a new philosophy of rest where saunation, relaxation and the overall guest experience are joined into one harmonious whole.
