Pical Resort officially opened with numerous dignitaries and an impressive entertainment programme

With the opening of the Diaco Boutique Hotel, Đakovo has gained its first modern conference hotel in more than twenty years, significantly expanding the possibilities for the development of business tourism in eastern Croatia. This new investment brings the infrastructure that this part of Slavonia has long lacked – from conference capacities and high-quality accommodation to wellness facilities and event venues for organising various business and social events.
The hotel features 41 rooms with a total of 82 beds, a restaurant with a capacity for 200 guests and two conference halls. The Palas Hall, covering 335 square metres, can host up to 300 participants, while the Royal Hall is designed for smaller business meetings, training sessions and workshops for up to 60 people. This puts Đakovo on the map of destinations capable of hosting medium-sized business gatherings, corporate events, professional conferences and incentive programmes.

The project represents a private investment by entrepreneur Ante Raspudić, realised as a family business in which each family member participates through their area of expertise. The hotel was created through the reconstruction and completion of a building that was in the shell stage at the time of purchase, with its hotel purpose already planned.
The new property is not designed solely as accommodation, but as a place that combines business meetings, gastronomy, wellness and the local community, creating a year-round offer for various guest profiles.

An important step forward for eastern Croatia's conference offer
The Diaco Boutique Hotel represents an important step forward in business tourism for Đakovo and the wider region. In addition to the main conference hall, the hotel offers a restaurant, bar, garden, cigar bar, wellness and spa centre with a swimming pool, Finnish and Turkish saunas, massage rooms and a fitness area. There are also plans to open a rooftop bar. This combination of amenities enables the organisation of multi-day business gatherings with additional programmes for participants, which is becoming an increasingly important element of the modern conference offer.

It is particularly interesting that the hotel does not target the international market exclusively, but also counts on domestic business users, local companies, associations and institutions that have not previously had a modern, well-equipped venue at their disposal for organising larger events in Đakovo itself. At the same time, the 200-seat restaurant opens up opportunities for gala dinners, business receptions, ceremonies and other events that accompany congresses and conferences.
The opening of the hotel has created the prerequisites for developing new business events in the town, but also for connecting the conference offering with Slavonia's tourism potential, wine roads, gastronomy, cultural heritage and the Đakovački Vezovi event, or a visit to the State Stud Farm Đakovo (Lipizzaner Stud Farm), one of the oldest stud farms in Europe, alongside numerous other incentive activities that the region has to offer.

Hotel identity built on local heritage
The hotel's name was inspired by the old Latin name for Đakovo – Diaco or Diacovum – reflecting a desire to emphasise the property's connection to the town and its history. The architectural design is signed by Bruno Rechner, while the interior design was conceived by Klaudija Zupčić. The visual identity is based on a contemporary and functional design and the concept of the so-called "quiet luxury" approach, meaning discreet elegance and personalised service.

Special emphasis has also been placed on the identity of the conference spaces. The largest hall is named Palas Hall, after the former Palas Hotel in Đakovo from the middle of the last century. This gives the conference facilities their own identity based on local heritage, which can contribute to their recognition in the MICE market.
Most of the other amenities are united under the joint Diaco brand – from the Diaco Dine restaurant and Diaco Bar to the wellness centre and the future rooftop terrace – thereby building a consistent hotel identity.

An investment that goes beyond the hotel
In addition to its tourism significance, the project also has an economic dimension. Around 40 employees have been hired with the opening of the hotel, and the investors are announcing the further development of new services and jobs.
Even more importantly for business tourism, Đakovo is once again gaining the infrastructure that enables the organisation of congresses, conferences, training sessions and corporate gatherings without the need to move such events to larger regional centres. This opens up new opportunities not only for the hotel but also for local service providers, caterers, transport providers, tour guides and other destination stakeholders.

The Diaco Boutique Hotel thus represents a significant contribution to strengthening continental and year-round business tourism, further positioning Đakovo and Slavonia as a destination that can meet the needs of the modern conference industry.
