The airline Air China has launched a new flight route connecting Beijing, Bucharest and Zagreb. Air China will fly three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays using an Airbus A330-200 aircraft.

The introduction of a regular Air China service opens up new travel opportunities for tourist and business travellers and improves the connectivity of the Croatian and Chinese markets. It is expected that the new route will contribute to further growth in tourist arrivals, as well as the strengthening of economic ties, investment opportunities and broader economic cooperation between the two countries. The arrival of the first flight was marked by a ceremony held at Franjo Tuđman Airport, which was attended by numerous distinguished guests, representatives of state institutions, the tourism sector, the business community and the aviation industry.

Alongside the representatives of the Zagreb International Airport Management Board, His Excellency Qi Qianjin, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to the Republic of Croatia, also addressed the gathering, pointing out: "This flight route between the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Croatia transcends its transport function and represents a bridge of friendship connecting our peoples. The establishment of this direct link will further enhance the possibilities for bilateral cooperation and give a strong momentum to the exchange, mutual learning and connection in the fields of economy, tourism, culture, sports, education and other areas of mutual interest."

Monika Udovičić, the State Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Croatia, also addressed those present, emphasising the importance of the new route for Croatian tourism and bilateral relations between Croatia and China: "The establishment of this route is an important step forward for Croatian tourism because it connects us more strongly with one of the world's most important generating markets. Chinese guests are extremely important for Croatian tourism and I am particularly pleased that with this route we are opening up even more opportunities for them for simpler and more accessible travel to Croatia. On distant markets, presence is built continuously, through better transport connectivity, promotion and long-term partnerships, and this very route represents an important step in that direction. Better connectivity also means more room for economic, investment and sports cooperation and the further strengthening of relations between Croatia and China. I believe that this route will contribute to an even stronger positioning of Croatia on the Chinese market."
